Inquest into the Death of William Cerqueira Announced

Dr. Bonnie Burke, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of William Cerqueira.

Mr. Cerqueira, 41, died on April 23, 2015, from injuries sustained while working at a construction project. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding the death of Mr. Cerqueira. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last three days and hear from approximately 11 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex, Court Room B, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr. Steven Bodley will preside as inquest coroner and Deborah Silver will be counsel to the coroner.
