Inquest into the Death of Dextin Laface Announced

Dr. David Cameron, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Sudbury Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Dextin Laface.

Mr. Laface, 19, died in hospital on August 6, 2017, after transfer from the Sudbury Jail. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Laface's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two days and hear from approximately six witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019, at the Sudbury Court House, 155 Elm St.  Dr. Steven Bodley will preside as inquest coroner and Bailey Rudnick will be counsel to the coroner.
