Inquest Date into the Death of Scott Johnson Announced

Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto West Office, today announced that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Scott Johnson.

Mr. Johnson, 33, died on June 16, 2012. He was working on a temporary concert stage at Downsview Park when the stage collapsed. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act when a worker dies on a construction project.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Johnson's death.  The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last three weeks and hear from approximately 25 witnesses. 

The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019, at the Coroner's Courts, Court Room A, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto.  Dr. David Cameron will preside as inquest coroner. Prabhu Rajan and Deanna Exner will be counsel to the coroner.
