Inquest Date into the Death of David Pinkney Announced

Dr. Kenneth Peckham, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Central West Office, announced today that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of David Pinkney.

Mr. Pinkney, 31, died on February 6, 2017, from injuries sustained when he was caught between a conveyor belt and a drum at a surface mining site in Severn. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Pinkney's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and hear from approximately eight witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, at the Orillia Courthouse, 700 Memorial Avenue. Dr. Mara Goldstein will preside as inquest coroner and Dennis Chronopoulos will be counsel to the coroner.
