Inquest into the Death of Douglas Kyereh Announced

Dr. Kenneth Peckham, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Central West Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Douglas Kyereh.

Mr. Kyereh, 35, died in hospital on June 13, 2016, after transfer from the Toronto South Detention Centre. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Kyereh's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.

Details regarding the date and location will be provided at a later date when the information becomes available. Dr. Mary Beth Bourne will preside as inquest coroner and Michally Iny will be counsel to the coroner.
