Inquest Date into the Death of Clifford "Raymond" Lloyd Announced

Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Ottawa Office, today announced that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Clifford "Raymond" Lloyd.

Mr. Lloyd, 77, died in hospital on July 17, 2017, after the dragline excavator he was operating tipped and became submerged in the pond at a quarry in Prescott. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Lloyd's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.

The inquest is expected to last three days and hear from approximately 10 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019, at the Brockville Courthouse, 41 Court House Square.  Dr. Bob Reddoch will preside as inquest coroner and Claudette Breault will be counsel to the coroner.
