Inquest into the Death of Emmanuel Oruitemeka Postponed

Dr. Michael B. Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Thunder Bay Office, today announced that the inquest into the death of Emmanuel Oruitemeka, scheduled to begin on December 16, 2019, has been postponed.

Mr. Oruitemeka, 25, died in hospital on February 16, 2014, after collapsing while in police custody four days earlier. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest is being postponed to properly address evidence in the best interest of the inquest. Further information will follow when it becomes available.
