Inquest Date into the Death of Jeffrey Kellar Announced

Dr. Paul Dungey, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, announced today that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Jeffrey Kellar.

Mr. Kellar, 50, died in hospital on May 3, 2018, after transfer from the Collins Bay Institution. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Kellar's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.

The inquest is expected to last two days and hear from approximately six witnesses.

The inquest will start at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019, at the Superior Court of Justice, 97 Thomas St. E., Napanee.  Dr. Mara Goldstein will preside as inquest coroner and Greg Skerkowski will be counsel to the coroner.
