Inquest Date into the Death of Gilbert Eid Announced

Dr. Bonnie Burke, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, announced today that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the death of Gilbert Eid.

Mr. Eid, 44, died on October 31, 2016, at a construction site. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.  

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Eid's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and hear from approximately eight witnesses.

The inquest will start at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2020, at the Coroners Courts, Courtroom B, 25 Morton Shulman Ave., Toronto. Dr. Mara Goldstein will preside as inquest coroner and Catherine Glaister will be counsel to the coroner.
