It's Not Too Late To Be Your Own Boss
McGuinty Government Extends Summer Company Deadline To May 20
Enterprising Ontario students still have time to work for the best company this summer - their own. The deadline for applying to Summer Company 2008 has been extended to May 20, 2008.
Students between the ages of 15 and 29 can qualify for grants of up to $3,000 from the Ontario government's Summer Company program. Students use the grants to help off-set their business start-up costs. They also keep any profits earned from their companies.
The Ontario government's Summer Company program provides young entrepreneurs assistance with starting and running their own business over the summer. The program provides practical hands-on business training, mentoring and the essential business skills they need to thrive.
- The Summer Company program has supported over 1,700 students to launch their own businesses since the program began in 2001.
- Many past Summer Company participants still maintain their businesses today.
“The future success of Ontario's economy depends on how well we educate our young people and the opportunities we provide. Summer Company provides the tools young people need to help them establish a business for the summer and helps prepare our future business leaders.”
“Summer Company gave me funding and valuable mentoring to start my business. The program gave me real-life business experience that I couldn't get in a classroom.”
