Green auto parts jobs coming to Windsor

McGuinty Government Joins Forces With Innovative Auto Parts Supplier

Ontario is creating 42 new jobs and helping retain 65 existing ones by supporting a leading edge manufacturing process at PM Plastics in Windsor.

The province is providing a grant of $565,300 to support the company's investment of $3.77 million over the next five years.   PM Plastics, which specializes in manufacturing parts for automotive fuel and air induction systems, will use the funding to commercialize and manufacture components for alternative energy based vehicles.   This included components for hybrid vehicles.

The support comes from Ontario's Next Generation of Jobs Fund, a $1.15 billion business incentive program designed to create and protect jobs for Ontario families.   Partnering with business is a component of the Ontario government's five-point plan to grow the economy.

Quick Facts

  • PM Plastics' new machinery and manufacturing process will increase productivity while improving energy efficiency by nearly 60 per cent.
  • The battery system will be used in hybrid automobiles, which can reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions by over 25 per cent.
