DICA Electronics To Better Serve Ottawa Hi-Tech Firms

McGuinty Government Works With Business To Create Jobs

Ontario is helping an electronics company in eastern Ontario expand and create jobs to serve its clients better.

Fast-growing DICA Electronics Ltd. in Carleton Place is expanding the scope of services it provides to Ottawa-area hi-tech companies. The expansion, which will result in 24 new jobs over three years, is supported by a $133,050 grant under the Eastern Ontario Development Fund.

Partnering with business is a key component of the government's five-point economic plan to grow the economy.

  • DICA Electronics currently employs over 70 people at its Carleton Place location.
  • There are 1,600 high-tech companies in Ontario , with particular strength in telecommunications equipment and networking, computer software, and photonics.
  • In 2007, eastern Ontario's Gross Domestic Product was nearly $66 billion, representing 11% of the provincial total.
