Laflèche Environmental Aims At Greener Waste Management
McGuinty Government Invests In Green Technologies, Creates Jobs
Ontario is helping an eastern Ontario company to modernize operations and bring more green solutions to market.
Fast-growing Laflèche Environmental Inc. will receive $531,600 through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF) to upgrade its composting infrastructure and equipment. This supports the company's long-term vision of providing comprehensive waste management solutions to the private and public sectors. The project will create 10 new full-time jobs and will also help stimulate employment in eastern Ontario around organics recycling services.
Partnering with business is a key component of the Ontario government's five-point economic plan to grow the economy.
- The state-of-the-art Laflèche Environmental BioReactor converts household and commercial waste to products that benefit society.
- In 2007, eastern Ontario's gross domestic product (GDP) was approximately $61 billion, representing 12 per cent of the provincial total. Eastern Ontario gained over 200,000 jobs between 1998 and 2008, an increase of nearly 25 per cent.
- To date, the EODF has committed over $10.8 million to 27 announced projects representing a total project investment of $69.2 million.
“Ontario is thrilled to partner with growing companies that are committed to innovating and building economic sustainability. In addition to demonstrating foresight, Laflèche Environmental is an outstanding corporate citizen, investing in the community and supporting university environmental research projects and students.”
“We appreciate the Ontario government's support of our vision to develop long-term solutions to protect the environment and build a legacy we can be proud of for generations to come.”
