Ontario Helps Local Cabinet Manufacturer Increase Productivity
McGuinty Government Supports Job Creation At Laurysen Kitchens Ltd.
Ontario is helping an eastern Ontario manufacturer of kitchen cabinetry increase productivity while reducing its impact on the environment.
Laurysen Kitchens Ltd. of Stittsville will receive $97,500 through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund towards the purchase of a new finishing line. The state-of the-art equipment will produce a superior finish and allow the company to increase production by 40 per cent. The provincial funding is part of a total investment by Laurysen Kitchens Ltd. of $650,000 and will create 10 new jobs over the next three years.
Partnering with business is a key component of the Ontario government's five-point economic plan to grow the economy.
- The new equipment uses a water-based curing process, reducing harmful emissions and providing a more sustainable finish. Drying time will be reduced from two hours to just five minutes.
- To date, the EODF has committed over $12.1 million to 32 announced projects representing a total project investment of $78.7 million.
- In 2007, eastern Ontario's gross domestic product (GDP) was approximately $61 billion, representing 12 per cent of the provincial total.
“Investing in new technology is essential to remaining competitive and attracting new customers. The Ontario Government is proud to support innovative companies like Laurysen Kitchens in growing their business and creating jobs for families in Eastern Ontario.”
“The new finishing process allows us to offer an environmentally responsible product to our clients while maintaining our high standards for quality. We are excited to have moved forward with this project and grateful for the support we have received from the province.”
