McGuinty Government Celebrates Opening Of New, Expanded Manufacturing Facility
With support from the province, [Therapure Biopharma Inc](http://www.therapurebio.com/). has opened a new manufacturing wing at its Mississauga facility that will develop and manufacture innovative medical treatments.
The facility expansion is expected to create 100 new jobs for families, bringing the total number of employees to over 200 by 2014. The new 130,000-square-foot facility includes manufacturing, research and quality-control laboratories and its advanced production capabilities are already attracting new clients from around the world. Helping innovative companies compete in the global marketplace is part of the McGuinty government's strong plan to make innovation a driving force of economic growth. A strong economy creates jobs for Ontario families so we can protect the gains we have made in health care and education.
- Since 2007, Therapure has grown from 13 employees to over 100 employees.
- In March 2012, Ontario added more than 46,000 jobs, while unemployment fell to its lowest level in three years.
- Ontario created 121,300 net new jobs in 2011, more than 45 per cent of all jobs created in Canada last year.
- Ontario cut taxes on business investment in half, making the province more competitive and encouraging new business investments.
