Province Partnering with Walinga Inc. to Create Jobs in Guelph and Fergus

Ontario Supporting Agricultural Manufacturing Sector in Southwestern Ontario

Ontario is partnering with Walinga Inc. to expand and grow the company's facilities in Guelph and Fergus, creating 25 new full-time jobs and retaining 177 positions over four years.

Walinga is a family-owned and operated company that manufactures agricultural equipment. It makes custom built bulk feed transportation trailers at their Guelph facility and portable dry bulk handling equipment at their Fergus facility.

With $440,900 in support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, Walinga will be able to expand manufacturing space in both of their Ontario facilities and purchase new equipment that will enhance productivity.

Modelled on the proven Eastern Ontario Development Fund, the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund is helping to create jobs and diversify the economy by encouraging regional businesses to pursue innovation and new markets. The development fund covers between 10 to 15 per cent of eligible project costs, and Walinga will fund the remainder of the project with their own resources.

Attracting new investment to southwestern Ontario is part of the government's plan to build Ontario up. The four-part plan includes investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario's history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.

Quick Facts

  • Founded in Ontario in 1954, Walinga has five locations across North America.
  • Ontario is accepting applications for the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund from qualified businesses that are growing and creating jobs.
