Driving Prosperity: The Future of Ontario's Automotive Sector

Financial Information

As part of phase one of Driving Prosperity, the Ontario government is committing more than $40 million to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation of Ontario's automotive sector.

Government actions such as cancelling the cap and trade carbon tax and repealing the burdensome provisions imposed by Bill 148 are translating into major cost savings for the auto sector. Ongoing work to reduce electricity rates and cut red tape by 25% by 2020 will result in further savings.

The Driving Prosperity plan respects taxpayers' dollars while signalling a major commitment to partner with the industry, the research and education sector, and all three levels of government to strengthen Ontario's auto sector competitiveness.
