Inquest Into The Death Of Kenneth Lyon Announced

Hamilton--Dr. Jack Stanborough, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Kenneth Lyon.

Mr. Lyon, age 32, died on February 23, 2010, at his residence during his involvement with the Hamilton Police Service.  An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Lyon's death.  The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last 2 days and to hear from approximately 5 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the John Sopinka Courthouse, 45 Main Street East, Hamilton.  Dr. Colin Zides will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Rick Monette will be counsel to the coroner.
