Ministry of Government and Consumer Services

Hundreds of new and small Ontario businesses opened their doors quicker in 2008, thanks to BizPaL.

BizPaL is an online service that provides entrepreneurs with access to customized information on permits and licences from all levels of government.  Whether starting a new business or expanding an existing one, companies can use BizPaL to remove the red tape with the simple click of a mouse.

In 2008, 60 Ontario municipalities launched BizPaL to give local businesses this valuable tool to save time and money.

Quick Facts

  • BizPaL, an innovative partnership with all levels of government, was launched in Ontario in April 2006.
  • It is now offered in more than 80 Ontario municipalities, covering 58 per cent of the population.
  • The BizPaL program is free for municipalities. The Ontario government pays for hosting and system maintenance.
  • BizPaL is one of many government services offered by ServiceOntario, the place to get fast, friendly and easy access to government services online, through kiosks, in person and by phone.

“Now more than ever we need to do everything to help business get up and operating. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished with BizPaL, and look forward to more Ontario municipalities offering this great service to their businesses in 2009.”

Ted McMeekin

Minister of Government Services

“BizPaL eases the burden and gets you the information at a click of a mouse. Business owners don’t want to waste precious time researching, waiting in line or on hold, to find out which licences and permits they need.”
