Driver's Licence Address Change Function Resumes
McGuinty Government Strengthens Security Features Of Government Services
Both the online and kiosk driver's licence address change services have been restored and include additional security features.
Working with Ontario's Information and Privacy Commissioner, the province has made changes to ensure the popular services offer improved protection of people's personal information.
ServiceOntario continually monitors these functions and will pursue preventative, enforcement and investigative options necessary to protect Ontarians who use these services.
- The online address change service was temporarily suspended on July 30 and the address change feature at kiosks was temporarily suspended on August 12. No other online or kiosk services were affected.
- The online and kiosk address change services were used by 368,000 Ontarians in the 2009/10 fiscal year.
- To change their address online, people will now be asked for their Health Card information as an added security measure.
“I would like to thank the Information and Privacy Commissioner for her assistance. The additional security features guard against potential abuse and we are confident this service will continue to provide the level of security Ontarians expect.”
