Ontario launches applications to New Relationship Fund
McGuinty Government Encourages First Nations and Métis to Apply
Ontario is now accepting applications for a province-wide program that supports capacity building for First Nation communities and Métis organizations.
Developed with input from Aboriginal partners, the New Relationship Fund will help First Nations and Métis in Ontario participate in consultations with government and the private sector.
The fund will also enhance and improve business and economic development partnership opportunities, helping to improve the quality of life for Aboriginal communities in Ontario.

- Applications for the New Relationship Fund are available online and in Aboriginal communities and organizations.
- The New Relationship Fund is available to First Nation communities and organizations and Métis organizations across Ontario.
- Establishing a fund to provide resources and skills to Aboriginal communities and organizations was a key recommendation of the Ipperwash Inquiry Report released May 2007.
“The New Relationship Fund will help First Nations and Métis develop and enhance the technical skills and expertise required for meaningful consultation and business partnerships. This will help build up local economies and close the socio-economic gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities in Ontario.”
