McGuinty Government Recognizes 25 Years of Municipal Service

Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing

Township of Conmee Reeve Robert Rydholm is the latest recipient of a provincial long-standing service award.

Rydholm was one of two municipally elected officials from northwestern Ontario honoured for 25 years of service at the annual Northwestern Ontario Municipal Conference held recently in Thunder Bay.

Long-standing service awards are given to municipally elected officials with at least 25 years of service. The program was introduced by the Ontario government in 2004. As of 2006, those with 50 years of service are also recognized.

Rydholm was first elected councillor in 1983, a position he held for nine years, before becoming reeve in 1992. He served as councillor again from 1998-2004 and has served as reeve since 2004.

Quick Facts

  • Long-standing service awardees are currently serving on Council.
  • Service does not have to be consecutive or with the same municipality.
