McGuinty Government Recognizes 25 Years Of Municipal Service
Township of South Dundas Deputy Mayor Robert Gillard is the latest recipient of a provincial long-standing service award.
Gillard, along with six other municipally elected officials from eastern Ontario, was honoured for 25 years of service at the annual Ontario East Municipal Conference held recently in Kingston.
Long-standing service awards are given to municipally elected officials with at least 25 years of service. The program was introduced by the Ontario government in 2004. As of 2006, those with 50 years of service are also recognized.
Gillard served as councillor and deputy reeve for the former Township of Williamsburg from 1977-1985, and again from 1989 -1997. He was deputy mayor for the Township of South Dundas from 1998-2003 and has served in the same capacity since 2007.
