Updated: Province Expands Activation Area for the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program in Lanark County

TORONTO - Our government has expanded the activation area for the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians Program in Lanark County to include additional properties impacted by flooding in the municipalities of Beckwith, Carleton Place and Mississippi Mills.

The program was activated on May 29, 2019 in several municipalities in Lanark County that were affected by flooding. Based on information provided by residents and the local municipalities, the province has identified additional properties, outside of the original activation areas, that were damaged and may be eligible for assistance.

The disaster assistance program applies to a primary residence and its basic contents, or to a small business, farm or not-for-profit organization. It provides assistance for emergency expenses and the costs to repair or replace essential property following a natural disaster that are not covered by insurance. To find out if they are eligible for assistance, if they are in the expanded activation area and for next steps, individuals, small businesses, farms and not-for-profit organizations should review the updated map program guidelines available at ontario.ca/DisasterAssistance, or call 1-844-780-8925 or email disasterassistance@ontario.ca after speaking with their private insurance provider.

The deadline to submit claims for applicants remains the same as the initial program activation: September 26, 2019.

Event type: Flood

Event date: April 19, 2019
