Ontario Ministers Listening To Northerners
Five Cabinet Ministers Take Part in FONOM Meeting
MINDEMOYA -- The Ontario government is sending five Cabinet ministers to listen to Northern Ontario's municipal leaders at this year's Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) annual meeting.
"Our government will ensure that important northern issues are addressed at Queen's Park, and I'm delighted to be here today with my Cabinet colleagues to listen to the concerns of northern municipal leaders," said Northern Development and Mines Minister Rick Bartolucci. "Conferences like this help facilitate an ongoing dialogue and foster a productive exchange of ideas with our northern partners."
Also attending today's FONOM meeting are Natural Resources Minister David Ramsay, Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister John Gerretsen, Community and Social Services Minister Sandra Pupatello and Agriculture and Food Minister Steve Peters as well as Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Brown. The FONOM annual meeting is bringing together representatives from more than 80 northern municipalities.
"Northerners are resilient, innovative and forward-looking, and I am confident that by working together we can generate prosperity and improve the quality of life in the North," said Bartolucci. "I am committed to helping return hope and opportunity to Northern Ontario so that current and future generations can lead healthy, productive lives within their home communities."
