Terrace Bay Ready To Grow
McGuinty Government Supports Further Development Of Commercial Lots
THUNDER BAY - The Township of Terrace Bay will attract new businesses to the area by bringing municipal sewer services to commercial lots along Highway 17, at the east end of the community. The announcement was made today by Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle.
A $616,850 investment from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) will support the installation of new sewers and the increased costs of constructing two entranceways to seven commercial lots. In 2005, the NOHFC provided $331,400 to connect water and hydro services as well as to provide road access to the lots helping to attract new business activity to the property.
"Our government is committed to helping small northern communities take advantage of new economic development opportunities," said Gravelle, who is also chair of the NOHFC. "That's why we are providing additional funding for the development of commercial lots that will help generate new economic activity in Terrace Bay."
These initiatives are part of the government's Northern Prosperity Plan for building stronger northern communities. Learn more at: http://www.mndm.gov.on.ca/mndm/npp_e.asp
