Algoma-manitoulin Shapes Its Economic Future

McGuinty Government Funds Regional Investment Attraction Projects

Algoma-Manitoulin municipalities are becoming more investment ready, setting the stage for new growth and jobs in the region.

Through the Northern Communities Investment Readiness initiative, the Ontario government has provided a total of $51,825 to initiatives that will help create, attract, and support investment opportunities in Blind River, Elliot Lake, Chapleau and Wawa.

Projects range from improvements to site selection capabilities to seminars on value-added wood products.

  • To date, more than $977,000 in investment readiness funding has been provided to 106 initiatives across the North.
  • The region of Algoma-Manitoulin is home to the world’s largest game preserve (Chapleau Crown Game Preserve) and the largest fresh water island (Manitoulin Island).
