Kapuskasing To Get First Retirement Facility
McGuinty Government Addresses Local Seniors’ Need
The Town of Kapuskasing will get its first retirement home facility with the support of the Ontario government.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is providing $125,000 to complete the Villa Mussely retirement home. The project involves the renovation of a former priest's residence into an 11-unit facility, including two that are wheelchair accessible. When completed, the facility is expected to create eight full and part-time jobs.
- This facility is the only one of its kind in the area providing service to people throughout the region.
- Ontario is home to about 1.6 million seniors – 40 per cent of Canada’s seniors. By 2028, the number of senior citizens in Ontario will double.
“I am pleased that the Ontario government is playing a significant role in addressing the need for a retirement home facility in Kapuskasing.”
