McGuinty Government Helps Young Entrepreneur

As the song says "come summer the work gets kinda hard." That's especially true when you're a young northern entrepreneur running a new car wash on Manitoulin Island.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) has approved funding of $25,000 from its Young Entrepreneur Program to establish the Island Rub and Scrub car wash on Blake Street in Little Current.  The business has been so successful a second Rub and Scrub location was recently opened in Mindemoya.

Quick Facts

  • Since 2005, the NOHFC has funded 15 young entrepreneurs in Algoma-Manitoulin for a total investment of $354,761.
  • While the community of Little Current was originally established for its agricultural and forestry potential, it has developed and thrived as a tourism destination.
