Fauquier-Strickland Develops Multi-Use Community Centre

McGuinty Government Helps Complete Important Renovations

Ontario is investing in the future growth of Fauquier-Strickland by contributing $231,500 to upgrade the local community centre to a multi-use facility.

Funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is helping to enhance the existing community centre for social, cultural and recreational functions, making it more accessible to a larger number of community groups. The renovations allow all-season use of the center by various youth/recreation groups and community organizations.

Quick Facts

  • Currently, the indoor facility includes change rooms, a canteen, a pool table, game boards, and a viewing area for hockey games played on an adjacent outdoor rink. It is a focal point for youth recreation in this small community of 600.
  • The project is part of a development strategy making the community more inviting to new business investment.

Additional Resources

“Communities need a place where they can congregate, where they can all participate in group activities, meetings and events. This complex will strengthen the social fabric of its community, and greatly improve the quality of life for local residents.”
