Hearst Plans Downtown Revitalization

McGuinty Government Helps Lay Out Urban Strategy

The Ontario government is helping the Town of Hearst focus on new economic and tourism opportunities by investing in a downtown revitalization plan.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is providing $36,900 to the Town of Hearst to develop a plan to revitalize and promote investment opportunities in the town's commercial, industrial and downtown core. Funding is provided through the NOHFC's Infrastructure and Community Development Program.

  • There are approximately 80 businesses located in downtown Hearst.
  • This downtown revitalization plan will help establish a marketable identity for the commercial district and identify opportunities for façade improvements, regreening and landscaping.
