Investment Attraction Activities Underway In Nipissing

McGuinty Government Assists Regional Development Projects

The region of Nipissing is benefiting from provincial funding flowing through the Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) initiative.

The NCIR initiative gives eligible communities, economic development corporations, and First Nations up to $5,000 per applicant to develop the tools and capability to attract, and successfully explore investment opportunities.  Applicants previously funded through the NCIR program may reapply where additional funding will advance the applicants investment strategy.  A key component of the GO North Investor Program, this initiative promotes a strong investment attraction climate in Northern Ontario.

Funding is being distributed as follows:

  • $21,000 to the Mattawa Bonfield Economic Development Corporation towards  a strategic plan that will establish the Mattawa Creative Centre as a non-profit industry attraction organization.  Funding will also be used to identify investment opportunities, and develop a strategic plan for the fashion industry in the Mattawa-Bonfield region.
  • $15,000 to the City of North Bay to gather and analyze data for solutions to shortages in the labour market, and to host a delegation of Peruvian mining executives.
  • $5,000 to the Township of Nipissing to develop a community profile to be posted on the

    Ontario Investment Services

    website.
