Young Entrepreneur Takes Business To New Depths

McGuinty Government Supports New Underwater Welding Venture

A young entrepreneur from Sault Ste. Marie is starting a commercial underwater welding service with help from Ontario.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) has approved funding of $25,000 through its Young Entrepreneur Program to R Jackson Developments Inc.  The funding will help launch a new venture that will offer its specialized underwater welding services all across the North.

Funding is being used to purchase equipment.

  • Underwater welding specialists can find work world-wide in underwater construction, inspection, and repair work for both offshore oil and onshore construction projects.
  • Since 2005, the Young Entrepreneur Program has provided more than $5 million to support over 220 youth business start-ups in Northern Ontario.
