Northern Ontario Targets Inter-provincial Trade

McGuinty Government Helping Northern Companies Land Alberta Contracts

Ontario is supporting a new initiative that will help Northern Ontario companies deliver products and services to Alberta industry.

Ontario's North Economic Development Corporation will implement an investment attraction strategy to help northern businesses provide services to Alberta's industrial sector. 

This project includes setting up a storefront operation in Alberta and participating in trade shows to promote Northern Ontario companies, including the three-day National Buyer/Seller Forum which gets underway today in Edmonton.

  • A recent inventory listed more than 1,200 major economic development projects in the province of Alberta valued at $5 million or greater, including some projects worth approximately $163 million.
  • The NOHFC is contributing $300,000 towards this project.
