McGuinty Government Supports Timmins Sawmill Expansion

Ontario is investing in the modernization and expansion of a Timmins sawmill.

Little John Enterprises, a value-added wood producer, will be able to expand and acquire new equipment making it easier to supply custom products to industry and local consumer markets. The mining industry is also a major consumer of the company's lumber products.

The project is expected to create as many as three new jobs in the area, as well as retain 11 existing jobs at the sawmill.

Quick Facts

  • NOHFC funding for the project is provided through its Enterprises North Job Creation Program.
  • The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC) is providing a loan of $1 million, in addition to a conditional grant of $251,500 from the provincial Forest Sector Prosperity Fund to help Little John Enterprises expand.

“Our government understands that value-added manufacturing holds many opportunities for business growth in our forestry sector. This new facility will help ensure sustainability and creates jobs in the Timmins area.”

Michael Gravelle
