Kapuskasing Community Centre Being Upgraded
McGuinty Government Supporting Northern Communities
New upgrades to the Centre Régional de Loisirs culturels in Kapuskasing will ensure it continues to be used for community activities, benefiting both residents and the local economy.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is supporting upgrades to this multi-purpose facility, including new kitchen appliances, improved washrooms, a soundproof wall system in the main hall and re-upholstered furniture, along with fresh paint and upgraded flooring throughout. The facility is used for numerous community activities, including theatre production, children's activities and fitness training.
The work began in mid-November 2009 and is expected to be completed by the end of March 2010.
- The NOHFC is providing $75,185 to this project through its Infrastructure and Community Development Program.
- Centre Régional de Loisirs has served residents in the Kapuskasing area for over 35 years. It is the only building within a 90-kilometre radius of Kapuskasing that can host activities with large audiences.
“Modernizing this popular multi-purpose facility will benefit the entire community in the long run. Our government's commitment to the project will help ensure that a wide variety of events and services will continue to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike for many years to come.”
