Mattawa Communities Promote Future Business Development
McGuinty Government Helping Strengthen Northern Economies
Communities in the Mattawa area are working together to attract new business and help strengthen the local economy.
With support from the Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) program, the Mattawa Bonfield Economic Development Corporation (MBEDC) is developing a regional profile that will help market the advantages of local communities to potential investors.
The investment is part of the government's five-year Open Ontario plan to create jobs and economic opportunities in Northern Ontario.
- The province is supporting this initiative with $10,125 from the NCIR program.
- The MBEDC represents the Town of Mattawa, Mattawan Township, the Township of Bonfield, the Municipality of Calvin and Papineau-Cameron Township.
- To date, more than $1.9 million in NCIR funding has been approved for more than 200 initiatives across the North.
“I am pleased that the province is supporting these communities as they work to attract investors interested in developing local industry.”
“The Northern Communities Investment Readiness program is an effective tool for northern communities identifying opportunities for economic diversification.”
