Supporting Economic Development In Powassan

McGuinty Government Strengthening Northern Economy

Ontario is helping create new economic opportunities and strengthen the local economy in Powassan.

With support from the Province, Powassan will upgrade its 32-year-old community centre with new change rooms, energy efficient lighting, barrier-free access and a new security and alarm system. These upgrades will help the community attract and host larger regional events and tournaments.

Funding is also being provided to study the feasibility of a business and industrial park in the community.

Investing in Northern Ontario communities is part of the McGuinty government's Growth Plan for Northern Ontario. A strong northern economy creates local jobs and protects the services that mean the most to families - health care and education.
