Supporting Economic Development in Sudbury
McGuinty Government Creating Jobs, Strengthening Northern Economy
Ontario is growing the mining services sector while creating five jobs in the City of Greater Sudbury.
With support from the province's Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), Cast Resource Equipment Ltd. is developing a shotcrete sprayer that will be used to seal and reinforce mine shaft walls helping to protect the health and safety of underground workers.
Supporting a successful mining sector is part of the McGuinty government's Growth Plan for Northern Ontario. A strong northern economy creates local jobs and protects the services that mean the most to families - health care and education.
- A local manufacturer, Mining Technologies International Inc. (MTI), is working in partnership with Cast Resource Equipment Ltd. to produce and market this product.
- The NOHFC is supporting this project through its Emerging Technology program.
- Since the introduction of the Emerging Technology Program, the NOHFC has supported 321 projects, creating over 1500 jobs.
- Ontario has supported 59 projects in the City of Greater Sudbury, creating 277 local jobs.
“Sudbury is a world leader in the mining supply and services sector. By funding businesses that focus on tapping into emerging technologies, our government is creating jobs and investing in a prosperous future for all Sudburians.”
