NOHFC Invests in Film and Television Projects

Ministry of Northern Development and Mines

The Ontario government, through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, is investing in 24 Film and Television projects in the Greater Sudbury area.

Three projects will support film production and help attract new projects to the North:

  • Cultural Industries Ontario North is receiving $694,000 to support and encourage the growth of the film, television and music industries through projects and initiatives across the North.
  • Northern Ontario Film Studios is receiving $650,000 for new equipment and renovations to their sound stage and post production studio.
  • MAS Acting Studios is receiving $42,968 to establish a training facility for film, television and voice actors.

21 film and television production projects will support the cultural sector in Sudbury and the North:

  • Dasher & Frankie Productions is receiving $500,000 for production of the film "On Dasher, On Dancer, On Frankie".
  • Brain Power Studio is receiving $261,500 to produce an animated children's TV series entitled "Lazoo".
  • Shaftesbury Films Inc. is receiving $1.5 million to produce the TV series "Slasher".
  • Wild Ontario Men Inc. is receiving $500,000 for the production of the film "Backcountry".
  • New Metric Media is receiving $723,755 for the production of the TV series "Letterkenny", $500,000 to produce the TV series "What Would Sal Do" and $500,000 for a film titled "Girlfriend's Day".
  • Christian Soldier Film Inc. is receiving $500,000 for production of the film "Fallen Heroes".
  • Stepchild Production Inc. is receiving $500,000 to produce the film "The Stepchild".
  • Group Home TV Movie Inc. is receiving $166,913 for the production of a pilot for the TV series "Group Home".
  • Glowbies Inc. is receiving $500,000 to produce the animated children's TV series "Glowbies".
  • Two Lovers and a Bear Inc. is receiving $500,000 to produce the film "Two Lover's and a Bear".
  • The Steps Productions Inc. received $500,000 to produce a film titled "The Steps".
  • 2411537 Ontario Inc. received $500,000 to produce the film "AntiBirth".
  • Possession Productions received $500,000 for production of the film "Ice Babies".
  • Reel World Management received $500,000 to produce the film "Music to My Ears".
  • 30th Birthday Productions received $500,000 to produce the film "30th Birthday".
  • Domino Productions Inc. received $500,000 to produce the film "Midnight Masquerade".
  • Holiday Help Productions API Inc. received $500,000 to produce the film "Holiday Help".
  • Born to Be Blue Productions received $1 million to produce the film "Born to be Blue".
  • 8653909 Canada Inc. is receiving $340,000 to produce the French language TV series "St. Nickel".
