Ontario Supporting Production of Hard Rock Medical

Province Strengthening Northern Ontario Film and Television Industry

Ontario is diversifying the northern economy and creating jobs by supporting the film and television industry in the North Bay region.

With an investment of $825,000 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), the province is supporting the production of the popular TVO television series, Hard Rock Medical. The show is filmed entirely in Northern Ontario and about to begin shooting season three.

Hard Rock Medical follows a group of medical school students as they train in Northern Ontario communities.  Its episodes are loosely based on accounts from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Investing in Northern Ontario's film and television industry is part of the government's plan to build Ontario up and deliver on its number-one priority to grow the economy and create jobs. The four-part plan includes investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario's history, creating a dynamic, supportive environment where business thrives and building a secure retirement savings plan.

Quick Facts

  • The NOHFC previously invested $1 million in Season 1 and $712,000 in Season 2 of Hard Rock Medical and is providing $825,000 for the production of Season 3.
