Ontario Supporting Craft Brewery Expansion in Sault Ste. Marie

Province Boosting Economic Growth and Creating New Jobs in the North

Ontario is helping to diversify the economy and create good new jobs for people in the North by supporting the expansion of a local craft brewing business in Sault Ste. Marie.

MPP for Sudbury Glenn Thibeault made the announcement on behalf of Bill Mauro, Minister of Northern Development and Mines and Chair of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) today at OutSpoken Brewing in Sault Ste. Marie. This support will allow the microbrewery to install a beer canning machine and add three vessels to its brew house, enabling the company to meet the growing demand for its products and increase sales at its retail location, as well as at bars and restaurants in the region.

The province's investments in the craft beer industry are empowering microbrewers across Ontario to grow their businesses, increase production, enhance their market share and support good jobs, while boosting local economies.

Supporting new business opportunities for northern craft brewers is part of Ontario's plan to create jobs, grow our economy and help people in their everyday lives.

Quick Facts

  • OutSpoken Brewing is receiving $70,814 to expand its operations and purchase new equipment through the NOHFC.
  • OutSpoken Brewing previously received $48,000 from the NOHFC to help establish its microbrewery, which commenced full commercial operation in 2014.
  • The NOHFC has supported the craft beer industry in Northern Ontario by providing more than $4 million to 15 microbreweries. This has resulted in more than $7 million in direct economic activity and created or sustained 105 jobs.
