Ontario Invests in Northern Craft Breweries

Through the province's Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), Ontario has helped sixteen craft breweries grow their businesses, increase production, expand their market share and create good jobs for northerners.

  • Lake Of The Woods Brewing Co. in Kenora received $866,921 to establish its microbrewery. 
  • Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. in Thunder Bay received $81,895 to establish its microbrewery and $800,000 to relocate into a larger facility. 
  • Dawson Trail Craft Brewery in Thunder Bay received $51,228 to establish its microbrewery. 
  • Slate Islands Brewing Co. in Terrace Bay is receiving $156,150 to establish its microbrewery. 
  • Northern Superior Brewing Co. in Sault Ste. Marie is receiving $196,816 to purchase new equipment to expand its operations.
  • Outspoken Brewing in Sault Ste. Marie received $48,210 to establish its microbrewery and $70,814 to purchase new equipment to expand its operations.
  • Manitoulin Brewing Co. in Little Current received $200,000 to establish its microbrewery.
  • Split Rail Brewing Co. in Gore Bay received $197,642 to establish its microbrewery.
  • Full Beard Brewing Co. in Timmins received $200,000 to establish its microbrewery.
  • Compass Brewing in Timmins is receiving $158,325 to establish its microbrewery.
  • Stack Brewing in Sudbury received $125,000 to establish its microbrewery.
  • Space Craft Brewery in Sudbury is receiving $200,000 to establish its microbrewery.
  • The Village of South River received $999,963 to construct a new multi-unit municipal building to accommodate local businesses, and the relocation and expansion of Highlander Brew Co.
  • Highlander Brew Co. in South River is receiving $375,000 to relocate into a larger facility.
  • The Buffalo Farm in Mattawa is receiving $186,000 to establish a year-round tourist destination offering interactive farm tours, unique accommodations and a microbrewery.
  • New Ontario Brewing Co. in North Bay received $104,115 to establish its microbrewery.
  • Trestle Brewing Co. in Parry Sound is receiving $200,000 to establish its microbrewery.
