Advisory Committee supports Endangered Species Act

The Species at Risk Program Advisory Committee is an independent body that provides expertise and advice related to the protection and recovery of species at risk and implementation of the new Endangered Species Act.

The committee will advise the Minister of Natural Resources on policy development and implementation, as well as public engagement related to the protection of species at risk.

Chair

Peter Meisenheimer is the Executive Director of the Ontario Commercial Fisheries' Association, a member of the Canadian Committee of Advisors of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission and a Director of the Anishinabek/Ontario Fisheries Resource Centre. He is also a consultant on fisheries management matters.

Members

Jessica Annis is the Director of Environmental Policy at the Building, Industry and Land Development Association, a member of the Ontario Biodiversity Council and a member of the Ryerson Planning Alumni Committee.

Kimberly Barrett is the Senior Terrestrial Ecologist with Halton Region Conservation Authority and a member of several Species at Risk recovery teams.

Anne Bell is the Senior Director of Conservation and Education for Ontario Nature and a Research Project Manager with Evergreen.

Steve Fonger is a full-time farmer, a Director with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and past director of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association.

Tom Hilditch is the President of Savanta Inc. and a member on the Board of Directors of the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Scott Jackson is Manager of Forest Policy for the Ontario Forest Industries Association, a member of the Ontario Biodiversity Council and a Professional Associate with the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Toronto.

Michelle Kanter is the Executive Director of the Carolinian Canada Coalition.

David Morris is a Director with Tallgrass Ontario and a member of the Carolinian Woodland Recovery Team.

Paul Norris is the President of the Ontario Waterpower Association, and serves on the Hydro Review Advisory Board and the Ontario Environmental Industries Association Board of Directors.

Rachel Plotkin is a Biodiversity Policy Analyst with the David Suzuki Foundation and a participant in the Carolinian Woodlands Recovery Team.

William Rapley is the Director of Conservation Education and Research with Toronto Zoo.

Ed Reid is a Wildlife Biologist with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and a managed forest planner.

Donna Stewart is the Ontario Regional Vice President for the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
