Forest Road Closures In Fort Frances District

High Water Levels Resulting From Snow Melt Lead To Closures

The Ministry of Natural Resources has issued forest road closures in the Atikokan area due to road washouts and flooded roads.

Road closures are currently in place on the Stanton Bay Road, East Pinecone Road and Crooked Pine Road. Barricades and signs have been placed at the closures on these forest roads. Additional roads which have been washed out and may be barricaded this week are the Camp 111, East and North Mercutio roads. Other forest roads in the area are experiencing soft sections and erosion, but currently remain open to traffic. These roads have also been marked for use with caution.

The ministry advises the public to seek information on the condition of forest access roads in the Atikokan area before travelling off major highways. The public can also report additional road washouts to the ministry at 807-597-5001.
