Penalty Imposed: A fine of $8,000 was imposed. In addition, the court imposed a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge as required under the Provincial Offences Act.
Background: On February 26, 2018, Ministry of Finance investigators searched a vehicle and discovered 19,020 unmarked cigarettes. All tobacco products were seized and forfeited.
