Penalty Imposed: A fine of $570,320 for possession of unmarked fine-cut tobacco for the purpose of sale. In addition, the court imposed a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge as required under the Provincial Offences Act.
Background: On November 20, 2017, officers from the Cornwall Regional Task Force searched a vehicle and discovered 1,153 kg of unmarked fine-cut tobacco. All tobacco products were seized and forfeited.
