New MRI Will Reduce Wait Times In Hamilton Area

McGuinty Government Improving Access To Diagnostic Scans

Ministry of Health

Hamilton-area patients will soon benefit from reduced wait times with a new MRI machine at Hamilton Health Sciences.

The new MRI is the fourth at the hospital and will provide patients with 3,120 scans every year. It is scheduled to begin operating for 40 hours a week beginning May, 2011. It will help Hamilton Health Sciences reduce wait times for the scans and make it easier for people who need an MRI scan to get tested and treated more quickly.

Today's announcement is part of the government's Open Ontario Plan to provide more access to health care services while improving quality and accountability for patients.
