Improving Patient Care At Winchester District Memorial Hospital

McGuinty Government Providing Families Better Access To Care Close To Home

Ministry of Health

Ontario is expanding services at Winchester District Memorial Hospital to ensure local residents have better access to the quality care they need, close to home.

With support from the province, the hospital will perform an additional 500 day surgeries, 40 additional obstetric cases and ambulatory services.

The hospital's redevelopment project, now complete, built a new wing and renovated an existing wing, including:

  • more than 1,000 additional rehabilitation and outpatient visits and a larger endoscopy suite;
  • a fourth labour/delivery/recovery room;
  • space for a new CT scanner; and
  • upgrades to improve patient safety.

Investing in modern and efficient hospitals that support the needs of our aging and diversifying population is part of Building Together, Ontario's long-term infrastructure plan. Ontario will continue to make significant investments in public infrastructure over the next decade to improve the quality of life for families.
