Statement from Minister of Health and Long-Term Care on Digital Health

Ministry of Health

Today, Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, issued the following statement:

"Today, I wrote to Ed Clark seeking expert advice to assess the value of Ontario's digital health program, its assets and all related intellectual property and infrastructure.

As eHealth Ontario's mandate nears expiry at the end of 2017, I believe we have been presented with an opportunity to leverage the investments made and build upon the current digital health system -- which has generated significant value for Ontario -- as part of our work to transform the health-care system into one that is truly patient-centred.

It is important that we undertake this review so we can better understand the value of our digital assets as we move toward a new vision for digital health in Ontario."
